I think so too, the mood on the original was calm but sad at the same time. It's meant to be foggy.
Have you ever read the Moomin books? They're surprisingly philosophical for kids books. C:

I am crazy jealous.
And yeah, I really liked the November book, it was a lot deeper than some of the others, in some ways. A bit less for kids I would say, I found some of it quite depressing. C:
